Young Dra Puts His Life Into A Fusion Of Music Past, Present And Future

With the video of his most recent release, “Passengers,” approaching 800K views and his next release, due out in four to six weeks, Young DRA is on the move and working hard.

DRA aspires to revive authentic hip hop music, but at the same time he is alive to the evolution of music.

“I don’t want to be boxed in to one genre. Music is evolving beyond that, and you got to be able to be adaptive or flexible,” he said.

Hip hop in the 2020s is nowhere near what it was in the 90s, or even early 2000s, he said.

“You got a lot of blend in a lot of genres. A lot of artists are taking into consideration that they don’t have to just be a rapper in order to be hip hop. You’re going to see a lot of these new genres popping up, a lot of these new styles popping up, something that older generations never took into account.”

DRA has called his own style a musical gumbo.

“Gumbo, you got a lot of things. It is a mixture of a lot of different ingredients.”

“Passengers” is a good example. In it, he says, you hear a “boppy, super catchy, upbeat, energetic sound, mixed with high and low pitches.” It is a mix of soul, trap and hip hop.

Trap is one of the new genres he is talking about, an evolution of style, which he dates from about 2010. Trap is old style gangster rap, he said, storytelling, but with a heavy beat. It is more of a sound, based around the bass drum kit.

“ ‘Passengers’ I consider to be a trap beat. Even though the elements of the song aren’t all the way trap, the sound is trap.”

DRA, 24, was born in Delaware and later moved to Chicago. His passion for music was born in his childhood through the work of artists like James Brown, Baha Men, and The Notorious B.I.G. He recorded his first track at age 12 on an Acer computer and a headset microphone.

In his music now, he says, “I’m just trying to give people how I see the world through my perspective and the things that I go through — the things I see as opposed to what society wants you to show. That’s not always squeaky clean and politically correct.”

He got his work ethic from his father, a lawyer. “Just seeing him work long hours and stick to the grind, even when it got hard, was motivation and an example of how you want to carry yourself when you feel the pressure’s on, feeling we can get through it if you put your head down and keep working.”

In his work, he has just finished writing a track entitled “No Rental,” which will be part of an album scheduled to be released in early fall, perhaps as early as the middle of September. The album will be called “Da Muscle.”

Dee Ross Rapping the Facts

Dee Ross has been rapping since elementary school. He grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana.
In his neighborhood, he’s always had a passion for rap. He grew up in the Allendale neighborhood on Webster Street. Allendale was a ghetto and a place filled with poverty and surrounded by violence. All of this gave Dee Ross his inspiration in music.
He began writing down his experiences in the form of poems, which seemed to stick well. The more he performed, the more he got more inspiration and confidence in telling the world about his experiences.

A few more years down the line, Dee Ross began to take his music seriously. He felt that he had a lot to share out there. And Dee Ross was willing not to be selfish with his experiences. When he discovered this, he dropped his first ep titled “ForeverReal,” in 2019 on all digital streaming platforms. That same year, Dee Ross dropped another ep titled “ForeverReal 2”. In 2020, he came with another ep titled “Forever Dangerous,” in which another single is attached to it called “I wonder why;” the both of them got radio play, and were top-charts for the time being. The ep itself got 50,000 streams on Spotify. Fans of his music flocked to the page, leaving comments and recommendations galore! And just last month, he dropped another ep called “Forever Dangerous 2.” Fully thrilling his audience every time.

In Houston, he decided to link up with the big labels in the city and make many collaborations with them. He’d done a couple of shows in local clubs in Louisiana and Texas. He’d also launched his own clothing line, 4everReal.com, to cater to his fans’ desires.
Furthermore, knowing how he’s fast becoming popular in the United States. Many music labels decided to chip in and make him part of their establishment. But Dee Ross knows his worth and agreed to be independent for the time being unless he’s got better deals.
With an entrepreneurial mindset, he came up with his record label called “ForeverReal,” with various artists joining him to be part of the movement. These artists can be found on Instagram codenamed @ForeverReal [The artist’s name].
Subsequently, before music, Dee Ross loved playing basketball. He’d won various trophies back in grade school. But music had always been his skill or passion. According to him, “Music was the only hobby which made me express myself without directly telling others the stuff I was going through.”
His most popular artists are Master P, Boosie, and Lil Wayne.

ARTIST REAL RELL MIXES STYLES, SOUNDS WITH LATEST SINGLE ‘GRADUATED’

ATLANTA, Ga. — When he needs to have a strong message, he’ll belt it out loud, but artist and singer/song-writer Real Rell likes to entertain as well, and that’s what he does with his latest single, “Graduated.”

Rell’s latest track is melodic in tone at times and has a smooth sound to it that shows off the artist’s versatility and style.

The music video for “Graduated” has been seen more than 35,000 times on YouTube and tells a tale about Rell’s journey from high school to the “real” world. It’s a story teens and adults can relate to.

“I was just doing the things in my environment, the things I was used to doing and the music I was used to hearing,” Rell said. “I was trying to be creative and trying to give a good visual. I elevated when I was working on that project so I kind of felt like I graduated to another level so it’s a metaphor.”

Rell grew up in New Orleans and his family relocated to Atlanta after Hurricane Katrina devastated the city, and he learned from his father to care about the issues affecting his community.

At the age of 12 he was listening to Tupac, Biggie and Jay-Z, who all inspired him to get into hip hop and pursue it as a career.

Much of his previous music spoke to the street life and his experiences growing up.

His 13-track mixtape called “Answer the Call,” also released last month, shows his evolution as a musician and rapper.

“People will really see that I’m not just a rapper; I’m something different,” Rell said. “I rapped about what I was going through, ya know, and how it was in these streets. It was about everyday life for me. ‘Answer the Call’ is a project that covers a lot of experiences. I really went there on many topics. Instead of me telling you about the mixtape, I want the people to tell me what they think. I believe my mixtape will speak for itself.”

Rell said the single “Graduated” is meant to be more of a light-hearted and commercial track than some of his previous music.

“I wanted it to come with a theme for ceremonies, even if it’s just a few bars from it,” Rell said. “I wanted it to be something down the line so it’s meant to have a little melodic tone to it.”

He said he’s looking forward to getting out and performing live in the coming year. Right now we’re really trying to take the streets, I want to, with in a year, go on tour. We really want to hit the streets and hit the clubs and see what’s going on. Here in Atlanta we really want to try and be a part of it.”

Rell stays true to his roots, but he refuses to be put himself into a box, “I do what I do because I love writing, rapping, and getting the people to vibe with me. It’s a beautiful thing.”

Make sure to stay connected to Real Rell on all platforms for new music, videos, and social posts.

Retro2000’s Debut Single “‘Till The Wheels Fall Off” Brings The Message Of Perseverance While Melding Multiple Eras Of Hip-hop

ATLANTA, GA – A caricature captures three people standing in an alleyway–one character, in green, stares ahead and sitting languidly on the rooftop of a garage; the other stands to the right, smoking, as the third person’s bike tires leave smoke speeding past–the back wheels left behind. This is Retro2000’s cover art, showing off members Krypto, Ice, and MaDukes, and represents the hip-hop group’s melding of time within their mult-era influenced sound on debut single “‘Till the Wheels Fall Off.”

Retro2000’s Madukes has been rapping most of her life, living up in Gary, IN before relocating to Atlanta. Her rapping style generates a sonorous movement—slick bars turn listeners on to a significant message that is stylistically reminiscent of ‘90s hip-hop. Ice says he naturally gravitated towards rapping, describing his style as a rugged street vibe. Krypto’s interests are similar, but says he likes to mix both elements of the hip-hip that Ice and MaDuke’s work with, adding in an interest in early to mid-2000s rap music citing Young Thug and 21 Savage as influences.

Era blending is a massive element of Retro2000’s vibe, even its name representing all three members’ goal to take on all sides of the coin—the 90s hip-hop style that brings a message, the rhymes of modern rap’s levites, and the word play of hip-hop precursors such as Gil Scott Heron or the style of groups A Tribe Called Quest or Digable Planets. But Retro2000’s style is all their own–creating the term “Thug Inspirational” to describe it, yet providing a similar representation.

“Thug Inspirational means we want to talk about trying to persevere and do the right thing but at the same time,” explains MaDukes. “We’re not saying our shit don’t stink, but we’re just trying to be more thought-provoking and making people think about the repercussions that come behind some of those pleasures.”

“‘Till the Wheels Fall Off” plugs into the Thug Inspiration mantra. Originally titled “Gladiator” Madukes had written the single with no intention of releasing it,at a time when she felt like she wouldn’t rap anymore and it was never supposed to be put out. It was MaDuke’s manager that encouraged its release and teamed up with Ice and Krypto to put it all together, and mixed by Grammy-award-winning engineer Mike Wilson.

“Out of the blue we just collectively came together and got this song and put the song out there,” says MaDukes. “The fact that Mike backed it gave us the validation we needed to say okay, we might be some good. Let’s go out here and do it.”

MaDuke’s experience growing up in a gang-related environment inspires the words to “‘Till the Wheels Fall Off” as does all three Retro2000 members’ current lifestyle–bringing in persistence, faith, and hard work into their lives and their music, hence MaDuke’s line “I’mma rock it till the wheels fall off.” A rhythmic wordplay paints the rest of the anthem alongside a beat that reflects ATL hip-hop of the past and present, and presents exactly what Retro2000 wants the world to hear, also using the hashtag #r2kATL to show what they’ve got.

We’ve always tried to formulate a sentence and be like, maybe I can make this sound good,” says Krypto. “ But we have to really start taking the experience seriously. So the last couple months we put a couple of songs together and had a couple ideas formulating.”

Retro2000 are continuing to formulate building momentum with “‘Till the Wheels Fall Off” but be sure to hear more news from the group on all social media and streaming platforms.

Get Familiar With The Name Alex Zarbo!

Alex Zarbo, also known as Zarbo, is an artist and producer who has recently focused on creating catchy electronic dance music. He draws from a wealth of experience and influences to bring the public his latest, which has hit the charts at #1 for several weeks on the European Indie Music Charts (EIMC), World Indie Music Charts (WIMC), and the iTunes charts at #1 position in Electronic Canada charts. Zarbo’s new and modern sound continues with the release of his early single “THEY LIE” from the upcoming Hindsight is 20/20 Two.

It’s based on the true story, “THEY LIE”. A song that will live on in the annals of time. Taking the number one spot on the European Independent Music Charts (EIMC) for the second week in 2022 and remaining in the top ten for the entire month of January. This comes hot on the heels of its two big brothers, Get Up and Dance and Correction in Direction, both of which spent several months at the top of the charts.

How ironic, a song written specifically to depict the lies and deceit of a small town in Canada known as Aurora Ontario, whose politicians for many years wreaked havoc on the local citizens surrounding the Town Park. Day by day, they were causing nuisances and loud unneighborly interruptions simply by granting themselves the privilege authority to dictate what the park should be. A perfect song for another concept Zarbo album due out this year. With that, much can and will be said in this album. Bringing the obvious, logical, and true to light once more.

Zarbo stated, “Because they deceived you! And when I say they, I’m referring to your politicians all over the world. We were repeatedly misled about every scientific aspect of a virus that should never have crippled our economy. It was mismanaged, mistakes were made, and no one will take any further responsibility. Again, this is self-granted authority in a world that desperately needs love, understanding, and intelligent thinkers. This has occurred numerous times in our society, both in the past and, sadly, still occurs today.”

Zarbo made reference to the English colonialist who came to North America to conquer and take what they believed was theirs, but was not. The motive was God, Gold, and Glory, but the native North Americans suffered and continue to suffer as a result. Also considering the white man, who asserted his supremacy by granting himself the privilege-authority to own another human being, thereby dictating to the world that the black race was inferior. Everything else that happened after that is well known, including the inhumane and degrading concept of slavery. All because of self-assigned authority and privilege.

Furthermore, during the conversation with Zarbo, he stated that there is much to be discussed and much to be learned. The general public must open their minds, thoughts, hearts, and actions in order to change the course of what has occurred and continues to occur. Even though the general public is aware that “They Lie,” they are doing nothing about it. Perhaps when it reaches an individual’s hometown, they will realize that it will not go away until each and every person’s convoluted thoughts are enlightened by the good, and by the goodness in their souls.

Denver’s very own “Rated R Rockstar” KG Prince

KG Prince is an electrifying artist/creative hailing from Denver Colorado where he was born and raised in . His initial success and drive has been demonstrated numerous times throughout the city of Aurora by taking matters into his own hands creating new vibes and teaming up with some of his current peers in music such as “J Truth” and “LMG” . Most recently KG has shown his capability for showmanship by a performance he did opening up for “autumn” on his “A Qwick Tour” at the Roxy Theater . Some of the fans in the crowd would even say “it was a night to remember”. Prince really set the bar high after ending his set with one of his most promising records titled “ZON3”. This song brings the grunge feeling to the listeners ear seconds into the song as KG gives a plethora of great bars and catchy lyrics throughout the whole song.

There’s a part in the end of the song where the verse ends and it goes into an ending hook chanting “MOSHPIT”. This song translated very well at autumns show meaning the listeners shared some of the same interest and felt some sort of connection preparing for autumn to arrive. KG then completes his set by stage diving in the crowd , something he has never experienced before, he states “Jumping in that crowd was one of the most exhilarating experiences I have ever experienced” . Prince has easily shown why he is one of the most versatile artist coming out of Denver experimenting with a plethora of different genres flows and production. For example, songs like “Ithinkimightdietonight” and “RRR” are good depictions of his art as a whole . In a nutshell, KG Prince is an astonishing artist to keep an eye on , supplying fans with great performances and prominent records .

Broshé Delivers New Music Fueled by Passion and a Cocktail of Contemporary Sounds

Brozshé Mclean—otherwise known as Broshé —is taking on the urban contemporary scene with a fresh sound uniquely his own.

Born on St. Vincent and raised in Miami, Broshé began his musical journey at a young age, listening to his mother singing around the house. Inspired by popular modern artists—including Michael Jackson, The Weeknd, Drake, Prince, Jay Z, Kanye West, Sade, Frank Ocean, Miguel, Jhene Aiko, and Calvin Harris— Broshé has since developed his personal sound—a blend of pop, r&b, and overtones of his own making. Blending his hopes and dreams with experiences, Broshé delivers a musical experience that is both true to his deepest self and resonates with listeners.

Another source of Broshé’s versatile musicality is the energetic club scene of Miami. Created in this vein, “The Party,” his seven-track album, gained momentum quickly following its release. As Broshé’s music gathersed steam, his music video for “One for Me” quickly amassed more than 11,000 views in a few days.

A mastermind at songwriting, it only takes the artist about five minutes to conceptualize a song. Then he’ll head to the studio, where sometimes he’ll improvise a song without lyrics and take the best portions of the session home to further develop. Every now and then, Broshé partners with a friend who pitches concepts and helps the artist approach his own ideas from a different lens. His beats—which come mostly from YouTube inspirations—take lengthy research to choose. Out of 300 beats, the artist may pick only 2-3 favorites to work on.

When it comes to creating music, Broshé finds that a clear mind helps him develop higher-quality work. Whether it’s hitting the gym or keeping his house organized, Broshé creates the best environment for his creativity daily. The rest of his day is filled will the business side of his musical career—discovering new events to perform at and developing connections.

On the rare occasion that writer’s block hits, Broshé isn’t fazed. “You’ve got to sit back. You can’t look for it—let it look for you,” says the artist of combatting lackluster moments. After all, his goal is to create music that is inspired and unique—“I don’t want my music to sound repetitive.”

After a few years on the scene—seeing the ups and downs of a career in music—the artist recognizes the determination and hard work that has taken him this far. “I didn’t give up. I haven’t stopped or thought it’s not for me. People are starting to recognize that I’m a great artist and I want the whole world to know that. That’s my motivation.”

Fueled by grand dreams and the determination to achieve them, Broshé is eyeing the next level of success. “I want people to know I’m going to be here for a long, long time. Whether it’s a song from this year going on the radio next year—I want my music to go far.” As for this year’s immediate goals, the artist is looking to release two more projects while focusing on quality over quantity. “After the Party” will follow “The Party” and deliver a story throughout the album to give listeners a robust musical experience. After all, the best part of the party is the afterparty.

Pop Artist StaJe signs with Sony

Photo Credit by S. Joaquin Ancona

StaJe, originally from South Carolina, flew out to LA 4 years ago to pursue his dream of becoming a major star.

One of the most interested things about StaJe is that he first lived on skid row when he got to LA all those many years ago. He lived on skid row for 6 months before his friend Nickolas Reynolds saw him living on the rough streets of skid row and decided to move him into his place.

4 years later he has accomplished so many feats. From breaking onto the billboard charts in 2020 to going on tours and performing for Los Angeles running mayor Karen Bass as recently as this past week.

I was able to have a chat with the rising super star as he “spilled the beans” on his decision to go with Sony. I asked him what made him decide to go with Sony. He gave me a priceless response; “I work with those that can appreciate my art and who I am as a artist”.

You can catch him on tour this Summer with Roll & Roll Hall of Famer Buster Akrey.

Congrats StaJe ! We will continue to follow along his journey to stardom.

Keep up with everything StaJe
