After more than two decades away from the recording studio, Detroit-born musician Nathan Mazur, professionally known as Nathan’s Patience, has returned with a striking new project. His three-song EP, The Thoughts We Can’t Tell, released September 2, 2025, is both a homecoming and a fresh beginning for the artist who once lived life on the road with a guitar in hand.
The lead single, “Just For Tonight,” is a standout track that captures the urgency and emotion of fleeting moments. Backed by two equally compelling songs, “My Hypocrisy” and “Inevitable,” the EP offers a snapshot of Mazur’s evolution as both a songwriter and a person. It’s introspective, melodic, and deeply rooted in the authenticity of an artist rediscovering his craft.
For Mazur, the project is more than just new music; it’s a return to the creative pulse that defined much of his early adulthood. “The feeling of being home again very accurately describes my return to writing and recording original music after more than 20 years,” he said.
Mazur’s musical journey began in the early 2000s, when he fronted the Detroit-based pop-punk band Nowadays. Though the group found modest regional success, it was enough to prepare him for a major leap forward. In 2001, Mazur moved to California to join the Los Angeles pop-punk outfit Never Heard of It (NHOI) as a guitarist and backing vocalist.
The move proved pivotal. Touring nationwide with NHOI, Mazur performed alongside some of the biggest names in punk rock, including Bad Religion, New Found Glory, Good Charlotte, Yellowcard, and NOFX. He even played every date of the 2002 Warped Tour, a dream gig for a young musician inspired by those very acts.
“I went from playing shows in front of maybe 50 people to headlining The Glass House in Pomona, CA in front of a sold-out crowd of 800-plus people,” Mazur recalled. “Because of how fast it happened, I barely even had time to reflect on it and enjoy it. Next thing I know, we’re jumping in a van and touring the entire United States independently. It was a whirlwind, and an experience I’ll never forget.”
By 2005, Mazur made the difficult choice to step away from music. For nearly 20 years, he shifted his focus toward building a business and raising his four sons, now ages 16, 13, 10, and 8. Music took a backseat, but the creative spark never completely faded.
In early 2025, that spark reignited. With new inspiration and a renewed sense of purpose, Mazur began writing again under the name Nathan’s Patience. His collaboration with producer, engineer, drummer, and multi-instrumentalist John Kowaleski gave shape and depth to the songs that became The Thoughts We Can’t Tell. Kowaleski’s fingerprints are heard across all three tracks, helping Mazur translate his personal reflections into polished recordings.

The EP marks only the beginning of what looks to be a busy new chapter. Mazur and Kowaleski plan additional studio sessions later this year and into 2026. A full band lineup is also in the works, with three additional members set to be announced soon. Their debut live performance is already on the calendar for March 2026.
For Mazur, the project is less about chasing commercial success and more about reconnecting with the part of himself that thrives on creation. “I’d be humbled if you would follow along with me on this journey of reconnecting myself with my creative side,” he said. “It’s already been a fun ride, and we have no doubt that the fun will continue.”
With The Thoughts We Can’t Tell, Nathan’s Patience delivers not only a personal revival but also a reminder that the passion for music never truly disappears; it just waits patiently to be rediscovered.
